Lisa Ivana Short,passed away at 2.30am on the 15.June 2007 at the tender age of just 16.She lived at
home in Scotland with her Mum and two brothers Michael (14) and Cameron(5).SHE was just back at her
secondery School where she passed her exsams despite her illness and long time off school.
Lisa lost her 3 year battle with Cancer.She was first diagnosed with having Wilms tumour on 10th of
March 2004,despite her knowing how seriose this illness was she never complaint about the pain or
her feeling sick with treatment.
She underwent an operation to remove the rather large tumour and the left kidney , then indured a
year of chemotheraoy and radiotherapy to shrink the 6 smaler tumours in her liver and 3 small
tumours in her lungs.She came trough it with great bravery and in the summer of 2005 her hickmenline
was removed and she was fine.A year on i took the children to Greece on holiday to celebrate Lisas
great recovery,unfortunatly she became ill on Holiday we ignored it and had a fabules holiday on our
return Lisa was in pain so i took her to a doctor who sent us to hospital to get checked over,she
got a scan and it was revieled that the tumours where back,this time on her bowl and her chest
area.My heart sank ,she went for a biobsy the very next day and the 45 minute operation turned into
a 5 hour emergancy op. The tumour corsed internal bleeding,when she eventually came round and
realised she was in intensiv care she new it was not good,but she smiled at me and said \"I did
it once,I can do it again\"They managed to stop the bleeding and remove a large amount of the
tumour on her bowl.To the Staffs amazment and mine she was up and about in no time ready to face
more chemotherapy,having lost a lot of weight she had to pass a feeding tube through her nose and
did this on her own,because the Nurses would make her nose bleed,what a Girl.
In January 07 Lisa had to have stemcell treatment,she was very unwell for about 6 Weeks ,keept in
icolation where her brothers could only see her trough a glass window .Only a few nurses and mysel
where alowed near her to keep the risk of infection at a minimum,yet she never complained.In march
we where told she did it again and just before her 16th birthday the hickmenline was once again
removed.
She had a massive 16th birthdayparty on the 16th of april 07.
She was so happy and full of joy,so it came to a great shock to us when she got ill again only 10
days later,on the 24th of April 07 we where told that a new tumour has grown on the tissue that
holds her organs together and there was nothing they could do for her now.
Lisa just looked at me we cried a little then she said to me \"my time in hospital is
done\"
The next 6 weeks where the hardest any Mum Daughter and Siblings would ever have to face,but for
Lisa knowing she was going to die she lived live to the full and never complained ,she would make
sure that we knew how much she loves us and will miss us,we openly spoke about her funeral witch she
was very much in charge of and she left letters for me her two brothers and her best friend,also a
note on what she wanted to take with her to heaven and i was not to forget a blanket to keep her
cossy.
Lisa you are my insperation and i am now doing what i promised you i would do,training to become a
Nurse.
You are so sadly missed,we think about you every day and your bravery will never be forgotten.
Sleep tight my angel,your in no pain now and am sure you have meet up with all the other children we
got to know and lost wile you where ill.

Hiya chum, It has been a while has it? Well I know by myself's sorrow that your Mum is missing you like mad...& with her first birthday without you.. I know that feeling.. Not a good one, & I know your birthday is soon too, Chevie's 10th birthday was on Sunday as was it a year past as you well know.. I do hope that you gave her a good one & heaps of prezzies? It's Morgan's 9th birthday to-day as well... busy busy busy.
So was it you that your Mum saw? I hope so, Coz if that was you, maybe you could show Chev what to do then she could come & see me? Now that would be cool....
Any way chum i'm off to bed so you sleep tight till morning & you look in at your Mum's & keep her safe from harm & give her the strenth to carry on.. Hi Lisa, You may not remember me hunny, but I came to the hospital with Siobhan one day when she was getting her bloods taken, and you were in the isolation room at the end of the corridor. I remember how sad I felt that no-one could go in and give you a cuddle. I also remember how brave you were, and how you seemed to just take everything in your stride. You had this beautiful smile on your face, and you were touching hands with Chev through the glass.
I know that Chev loved you very much, and I sure hope you have found each other, and that you are ok.
Even though I never met you Lisa, I know your loved ones miss you terribly.

Miss you so much sweetie you wouldnt believe! We didnt have you for very long but the months we spent with you were the best of my life! Im honoured to have been able to meet you and get to know you before you went! You truly were the best friend we could of ever asked for!

You never once complained about anything even though we knew the pain you were suffering you were still so brave!

IITS SO SAD, IM CRYING WHILE READING ALL ABOUT LISA. MY HEART GOES OUT TO U. I LOST MY DAUGHTER ON THE 11/11/07 DUE TO CANCER AT THE AGE OF 21. WHY DO WE AS MOTHER HAVE TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN TO ARE BABES. I ONLY FOUND OUT IN JULY 07 CHERRELLE HAD CANCER, TOOK HER TO THE DOCTORS TIME AFTER TIME, BUT THEY SAID SHE WAS JUST DEPRESSED. A LUMP CAN UP ON HER NECK IN JULY. THEY DID THE TEST AND YES IT WAS CANCER, AFTER A FEW MORE TEST THEY FOUND SHE HAD CANCER ALL OVER AND GAVE HER 3-12 MONTHS TO LIVE. THERE ISNT A DAY THAT GOES BY WHEN I DONT THINK OF HER AND ALL THE OTHER POOR CHILDREN. I HAVE KNOWN 7 CHILDREN TO DIE IN THE PAST 3 MONTH AND ITS NOR FARE.MY CHERRELLE WILL TAKE GREAT CARE OFF LISA FOR U. HER BIG SISTER IS CALLED LISA ALSO. GOD BLESS U LISA.
